WORKSHOPS

Workshops in your classroom including an introduction to Shakespeare's language, the world of the play and production specific discussion, are ideal for educators interested in a pre-show orientation prior to bringing students to our matinees. Southwest Shakespeare Company will work directly with each educator to customize a workshop that will work best for your classroom.

We take pride in knowing no matter what show you may have in your curriculum this year, we have the perfect match of teachers to augment your manner of teaching and material. We encourage hands on learning and get excited about theatre games, student scene work and limited lectures.

$225.00 per workshop per school. $125 for each additional workshop scheduled for back to back, same campus, same day workshops. 75 student participant maximum.

POST-SHOW DISCUSSIONS

These discussions with the cast and crew members immediately follow our student matinees. Students are encouraged to ask any questions they may like to the cast and crew of each performance. This forum is structured and led by an SSC moderator, so we get the most out of each talkback. Nuances are explored, inside jokes shared and secrets of the theatre are always revealed! $50 per school.

BACKSTAGE TOURS

Following our student matinees, these tours give a truly unique perspective, and highlight technical aspects of how our shows work. Led by one of the actors just seen in our production, students are brought through the set, stage and backstage area of Southwest Shakespeare Company. When scenic elements are explored, understanding the complexity of what goes into not only making a Southwest Shakespeare Company production possible, but theater, opera and dance appreciation are enhanced as well.

$50 per tour. 20 students maximum.

Teachers and Chaperones are always free.
